Chapter 01Why you're here

The part most people only manage to say on the second attempt on the phone.

Touch is missing more oftenthan people admit.

Most people who call say the same sentence first: “I don't even know if this is weird.” It isn't weird. It is just unfamiliar that you may order closeness without being in love with, related to or married to someone.

Touch is not a luxury. It calms the nervous system, lowers the pulse and quietens the head for a few hours. Its absence hurts accordingly — specialists call it chronic touch deprivation. Around 40 % of all households in Germany are single-person households; people living in them go some weeks without being touched by anyone.

Then there are the others: recently separated, widowed, permanently functioning. People in a relationship where touch only ever appears as a prelude to sex. And people who want closeness but first have to relearn where their own boundary actually runs — that is what the cuddle courses are for.

This room exists for all of that. You don't have to tell anything, work anything through or give anything back. You lie down, and somebody is there. How a one-to-one session runs and what applies during it is set out in the rules.

Chapter 02 — What happens in those hours

First

Arriving.

Shoes off, tea in hand, sitting. We talk about the day and about how you're doing. In the first fifteen minutes nobody touches anybody — that isn't wasted time, that is half the work.

Then

Agreeing.

We go through the rules out loud and you say what additionally applies to you. Not the head. Not the feet. No weight on the chest. Whatever it is — it gets said before it happens.

And then

Being held.

Usually lying down, often in silence, always clothed. A position that feels good may stay for twenty minutes. You don't have to say anything, give anything back or prove anything. Stop applies immediately, without a reason.

Chapter 03What's on offer

Every price is in the open — including the ones others write “on request” for.

Four ways in —pick one.

From a single evening in a group for €15 to a retreat across a whole weekend. All four share the same rules and the same sentence: you decide what happens with your body.

“I don't promise you healing. I promise you an hour in which nobody wants anything from you.”

Chapter 04The safe framework

Anyone who doesn't want to carry this is at the wrong address. That too is care.

The house rules.Read out loud, before we begin.

Cuddle therapy only works if the boundaries are settled beforehand — not negotiated in the moment. That is why the rules are published here before you even get in touch. They come from the training at KuschelRaum Berlin and follow the Wheel of Consent.

The most important sentence first, because it is the most searched for and the least clearly answered online: cuddle therapy here is sex-free — clothed, with no sexual acts, no sexual intent, no exception. That applies in a one-to-one session, at every cuddle party and afterwards.

The rules in full
  1. 01

    Sex-free. No exceptions.

No sexual acts, no sexual intent, no grey area. If you are looking for something else, you are in the wrong place — and I would rather say that now than afterwards.

  2. 02

    Clothes stay on.

Comfortable, long-sleeved, freshly washed. No zips, no belt buckles, no bare skin other than hands, arms and face.

  3. 03

    We ask first. Always.

Every touch is announced or requested — by you and by me. Nothing simply happens because it seems obvious in the moment.

  4. 04

    A no needs no reason.

You don't have to explain yourself, apologise or weigh anything up. A no is a complete answer.

  5. 05

A yes can be taken back.

Halfway through, after ten minutes, even if you wanted it a moment ago. That isn't a step backwards, that is the whole point.

  6. 06

    Only a real yes counts.

No maybe, no polite yes, no “it's fine”. When in doubt we do nothing and talk.

  7. 07

    Wheel of Consent.

Before every touch it is clear who is giving and who is taking — and whom the touch is currently serving. That is exactly what separates cuddle therapy from everything else.

  8. 08

    Sober.

No alcohol, no drugs — not beforehand and not during. For me that is non-negotiable, out of my own history.

  9. 09

    What happens here stays here.

No names, no stories, no photos. I pass nothing on, and I ask the same of you.

  10. 10

I stop things if the framework tips.

If a boundary is crossed, the session ends — without discussion and without a refund. That too is part of a safe space.

Chapter 05How it runs

So that you know what you're getting into before you do it.

From the first messageto coming back.

  1. Step 1

    You write.

Via the form, by email or by phone. You don't have to know anything yet — “I'm not sure this is for me” is a perfectly good first message.

  2. approx. 20 min., free

    We talk on the phone.

Before you book, you hear my voice. I explain the framework, you ask whatever you want to ask. You decide afterwards — not before.

  3. the first 15 min.

    Arriving.

Shoes off, tea, sitting. We talk about the day, about how you're doing, about what won't work today. Nobody is touching anybody yet.

  4. 10 min.

    The rules, spoken out loud.

We go through the rules together and you say what additionally applies to you: not the head, not the feet, no weight on the chest — whatever it is.

  5. the main part

    Touch at your pace.

Clothed, usually lying down, often in silence. A position that feels good may stay for twenty minutes. You can say stop at any time, without giving a reason.

  6. last 10 min.

    Coming back.

Sitting up, tea, arriving. Some people talk, some stay quiet. I let nobody go straight from lying down into traffic.

  7. afterwards

    You leave when you're ready.

No sales pitch, no package offer at the door. If you want to come back, you know where I am.

Steaming terracotta ceramic cup on dark wooden boards, next to it a stack of folded knitted blankets
The tea at the start isn't decoration — it gives the hands something to do while talking is still hard. Symbolic image, generated; not a photograph of the practice room.

Good to know

The pre-talk on the phone costs nothing and commits you to nothing. Most people book only afterwards — and some realise during it that a cuddle party is the better idea to start with.

Chapter 06About Nicole

Cuddle therapy is purely a decision about trust. So here are the basics.

Tall stack of folded blankets in natural white, beige and terracotta on a wooden floor, a glowing floor lamp to the right
Symbolic image. A real portrait of Nicole is still to come — until it exists we deliberately show no face here.

Who is actuallyholding you.

I'm Nicole Bader, certified cuddle therapist and cuddle party host, trained in 2022 at KuschelRaum Berlin. On top of that I work as an Emotional Release Breathwork therapist after kernwärts© and as a nature and wilderness educator.

These three trainings are not a random pile. Breath opens, touch catches, and outdoors both come more easily — that is exactly the order I work in, in a one-to-one session as much as on the cuddle retreats. Nowhere else in the Rhineland will you find this combination.

There is a reason nobody is judged here: I have a history of addiction myself and have been walking the 12-step path since 2018. I know what it is like to sit with something you don't want to tell anyone. That is why “sober” is a hard rule with me — and why judgement doesn't happen here.

Chapter 08Common questions

The six questions that come up before almost every first booking.

Answeredbriefly andhonestly.

All eighteen questions, together with the rules, the Wheel of Consent and the limits of this work, are on the safe framework page.

Read every question

Is cuddle therapy really sex-free?

Yes, with no grey area. No sexual acts, no sexual intent, no exception for regulars. That isn't a marketing line, it is the condition I work under — and the reason cuddle therapy can work at all. Anyone looking for something else gets a friendly but final no on the phone already.

What does a cuddle session in Mönchengladbach cost?

60 minutes cost €90, 90 minutes €120, 120 minutes €150. The introductory phone call beforehand is free. You pay in cash on site or by bank transfer after the appointment — no prepayment, no deposit. Home visits carry a travel surcharge; a cuddle party is €20, or €15 reduced.

What actually happens during a cuddle session?

Four parts, always in this order: around 15 minutes of arriving over a cup of tea, about 10 minutes in which we go through the rules out loud and note your personal boundaries, then the main part with touch — clothed, usually lying down, often in silence — and finally around 10 minutes of coming back. Stop applies at any time and without a reason.

What is touch deprivation?

Specialists call it chronic touch deprivation: the state of being touched kindly rarely or not at all over a long period. Around 40 % of all households in Germany are single-person households — people living in them go some weeks without anyone touching them. Touch calms the nervous system, lowers the pulse and quietens the head; its absence hurts accordingly. A cuddle session is not a cure for that, but it is a reliable place where the lack stops for an hour or two.

What is a cuddle party, and what does CCE mean?

CCE stands for Conscious Cuddle Experience. It is a facilitated evening of around three hours with eight to twenty people in Mönchengladbach. It doesn't start with cuddling but with the rules read out loud and exercises in saying no; after that the room is open for free cuddling. Anyone who wants to sit at the edge and just watch all evening may do so — that is a permitted variant, not a failure.

Do people come from Krefeld, Viersen, Neuss or Düsseldorf?

Yes. The practice room is in Mönchengladbach-Hardt, right by the A52 and A61, with parking outside the door. It's around 30 minutes from Düsseldorf and around 50 from Cologne. People regularly come from Viersen, Krefeld, Neuss, Kaarst, Erkelenz and Heinsberg.

Look around first, book later

The step before the first session.

€90 for touch from a stranger is a big first step. That's why the small ones exist: the monthly Kuschel:News letter with the next dates, the Telegram group “kuscheln_nrw” and the Facebook group. Read, follow along, come along at some point.

We'll add the direct group links as soon as we have them — until then Nicole will send you access personally.
